Introduces the paper airplane simulation common in Lean courses. Details how to fold the plane. Provides a sample set of metrics to be captured when running the simulation. Proceeds through a simulation that is run in stages, which more or less follow manufacturing history. Covers craft based manufacturing and Mass Production models.

The current state value stream map is developed for the Sailboat Company of Naples, FL. The current state sets the baseline of performance to improve from. Leadtime, cycle time, materials flow, information flow, and inventory are captured on the value stream map.
This is a game that the Instructors at SSDSI use to show the difference between traditional “Push” production and the benefits of “Pull” production.
