Going into a Kaizen event, you will already know what problems or issues you are looking to improve upon. There are either capacity issues, setup problems, real estate growth issues, and even quality concerns. Or, maybe you need more room for a new process or product line. Whatever the reason is, you know what goals you are after. When you already know this, then you need to get it on paper. This is where the Kaizen Event Summary Form comes into play.

While this form is presented at the conclusion of your Lean Manufacturing Kaizen Event, it should be filled out initially “before the event”. You will see the “before event” section. When you first meet with the team, you can either go out in a group, get the current state, and then add it to this form. Or, you can do it ahead of time. Either way, it needs to be entered here.

This gives the team an understanding and agreement on what the goals are. It keeps everyone on the same page.
